Star Micronics MCPrint3 USB Windows Setup Guide (Cultivera POS Web)

This guide walks through installing the Star Micronics MCPrint3 printer driver, adding the printer to Windows devices, and confirming it is available for printing in your POS Web application.

This guide is for Windows devices only using POS Web. It does NOT apply to iPads or Android terminals.

Before You Begin

  • Do not connect the USB cable until instructed
  • Ensure the printer is powered on
  • You must install the driver before Windows detects the device
  • Installation requires two steps:
    1. Install the driver
    2. Add the printer to Windows

Install Star Windows Driver

  1. Download the Star Windows Software Driver
  2. Open your Downloads folder
    • If you downloaded a ZIP file:
      • Right-click > Extract All
    • If EXE:
      • Double-click to run
  3. Open the extracted folder > go to the Setup folder
  4. Run the installer:
    • Choose Typical
    • Click Install
    • Click Finish when complete

Connect and Add Printer in Windows

  1. Plug the printer into your computer using a USB B to A cable
  2. Open your Windows Settings > Printers & Scanners:
  3. Locate your printer in the list:
    • Typically appears as Star mC-Print3
    • If not visible:
      • Select Add device
      • Or unplug/replug the USB cable

Verify Installation (Test Print)

  1. In Printers & scanners:
    • Select the printer
    • Click Print a test page
  2. Confirm the printer outputs a test receipt

Use Printer in POS Web

  1. Open your POS Web module
  2. Initiate a print action (receipt, or Shift X/Z Report)
  3. In the Print Preview screen:
    • Select your printer from the Destination dropdown
    • If not visible:
      • Click See more and select it from the full device list

Adjust Print Settings (Printer Feeding Excess Paper)

In the Print Preview window:

  1. Open More settings
  2. Uncheck Headers and footers

This prevents any extra paper usage on receipts.

If you encounter any issues or if the printer still doesn't work as expected, it's advisable to contact Star Micronics customer support (https://starmicronics.com/star-micronics-technical-support/) or refer to the official documentation (https://starmicronics.com/support/products/mc-print3-support-page/) for troubleshooting guidance.
